Whilst reading this post, stand in awe before my sophisticated grasp of the nuances of graphic design packages (as evidenced by the squint, somewhat squiggly red arrows and the misshapen question marks).
Anyway, these two corresponding items on the menu in a Glasgow restaurant delighted me when I had dinner with two friends on Saturday night:

We didn’t order either dish. Suggestions regarding why the angry prawns ought to cost more than the (clearly spiritually superior) peaceful prawns are most welcome.
Secondly, this perplexing sight greeted my friend Lewis and I as we were waiting for our train:

What exactly is going on here? “Honey, I’m home! I bought a new computer, and some genuine antlers”??
When the man asked for a Mac with extra RAM, the sales assistant misunderstood him…
(ba-doom tsch!)

Good LORD, Chris! I’ll pass that (painful) remark on to Lewis.

Google would suggest that angry prawns are spicy and peaceful prawns are not. Also that peaceful prawns may be good with Thousand Island dressing.
I much prefer the idea of the peaceful prawns just being more enlightened, though. *grins*

Sadly, I did suspect that there might be a spicy sauce involved, and (like you) I am severely disappointed to have it confirmed… but it’s better to live with the harsh truth than a comfortable falsehood!

Clearly angry prawns cost more because the poor sod who had to catch them was paid danger money.

I like this theory, Big J! Have a gold star.

awwww… the hazard pay was my idea too, or someone had to be paid more to MAKE the peaceful prawns angry. one of the two.

That’s a good effort as well, Adam (though what a horrible job, being paid to anger once-peaceful creatures).

well….at least they aren’t big enough to fight back. i mean it could be peaceful giant squid versus angry giant squid at which point i would need more than hazard pay.

Angry prawns – you never can trust those shellfish. They can kill people you know.
